Is Pope Francis hostile to conservative Catholics?

By conservatives I mean practicing observant Catholics…

But there is right and wrong and my friend Trooper York has been warning what has been going on with Pope Francis is wrong (and he linked this latest). Francis's acts regarding Liberation Theology are troubling.  Now we have Stacy McCain raising the alarm.  Granted Stacy is a Calvinist heretic just to the right of Cromwell, but he is correct with this observation from Robert Conquest's second law of politics: “Any organization not explicitly and constitutionally right-wing will sooner or later become left-wing.”  The third law also applies: "The simplest way to explain the behavior of any bureaucratic organization is to assume that it is controlled by a cabal of its enemies." My guess is if Jesus went to visit the Vatican Curia (and this was the case long before Pope Francis showed up), he would be flipping over a few tables and driving them out.

Even Ed Morrissey is raising questions.  Kathryn Jean Lopez sees outreach. Ramesh Ponnuru says the Synod is getting weird.

Update:
Can't forget DaTechGuy! He says what the Synod is doing is God's work.

  1. Da TechGuy dares to disagree with the Sainted McCain, who seems to be more into Byzantine flame wars than anything else, and his point is not without merit.

So would a lot of Catholics. The issue here is the media wants to turn Francis and what he says into a justification for the New Morality (which, of course, is the old immorality) and a lot of people on the Right are only too happy to swallow it hook, line, and sinker.

  2. I don't mind the outreach to divorced people or gays. But I do worry that Francis will want to take a strong stand about some other aspects of doctrine, and will announce that Christianity implies socialism.

Will be glad to be proven wrong by events.
